Allegrix Application Center, Direct Technologies for Windows 2000,
and ASP-in-a-Box Reduce Cost and Complexity
of Delivering ASP Solutions
Allegrix, Inc., the ASP infrastructure provider for the channel, announced today at ASPWorld a breakthrough in delivering Windows 2000 applications in an ASP-based model using Microsoft-only technologies. Applications can now be accessed through the Web-based Allegrix Application Center that is built directly on Windows(R) 2000-Terminal-Services technologies, reducing the cost and complexity of deploying Windows applications over the Internet. Allegrix will be presenting and demonstrating its solution at the Microsoft booth at ASPWorld. In addition, Allegrix will be showing its unique channel-focused ASP-in-a-Box(TM) business assessment toolkit at Booth 614 with Progress Software Corporation. Allegrix's ASP-in-a-Box provides the information that all channel solution providers, including Microsoft resellers, need to become instant ASPs.
"Businesses are looking for ways to access Windows applications over the Internet, and Allegrix has created a way for current Microsoft Solution Providers to deliver that service as ASPs," said Chris Clabaugh, president and CEO of Allegrix. "Integrating Microsoft technologies was the key to building a direct delivery framework that powers the Allegrix Application Center for Windows-based ASP solutions. We are a pioneer in developing this solution, but we expect many other ASP infrastructure providers to do the same as Microsoft has all the key elements in place for a successful ASP strategy. This solution, combined with our unique ASP-in-a-Box business assessment toolkit, provides an easy path for Microsoft Solution Providers to embrace the new ASP business model."
"Allegrix has created a unique environment for delivering Windows applications for use over the Internet," said Dwight Krossa, Director of ASP and Hosting Marketing, Microsoft Corp. "Utilizing standard Microsoft technologies such as Windows 2000 Terminal Services and Active Server Pages, and by tapping the huge base of Windows applications, Allegrix has created an attractive business opportunity for MCSPs and VARs that sell and customize Windows-based solutions today."
Applications Delivered through the Allegrix Application Center
The Allegrix Application Center is a Web-based environment where applications can be launched by customers and provisioned by Microsoft Solution Providers. It is an industry standard doorway to the future of business computing using the ASP subscription model. The Allegrix Application Center can be customized for each Microsoft Solution Provider, or ASP, enabling them not only to offer their customers complete "software neighborhoods," but also to control and monitor access to their applications. The Application Center provides:
-- Application Rendering -- the ability to make existing Windows 2000 applications accessible through a standard Web-based delivery portal without the costly expense of a software rewrite -- Application Brokering -- the ability to run multiple, simultaneous Windows 2000 applications from a Web-based environment -- Application Provisioning -- the ability to have users or solution providers self-provision: to add or delete users, control settings and change passwords
"We've found Allegrix to be a valuable partner in helping us successfully grow our ASP business," said Brian Regan, Principal and CEO, LOR Management Services, a leading provider of value-added finance and accounting outsourcing services. "Allegrix helped us find better Web-enabling technologies for our applications, get them up and running in the Allegrix Data Center, and bring everything together in a user-friendly environment within the Application Center in record time. Allegrix understands the needs of our business and has built a strong model for helping traditional channel solution providers succeed in this new market opportunity."
The Secret Sauce: Direct Technologies
Allegrix has integrated industry standard Microsoft technologies to create this unique way of delivering Windows 2000 applications. These technologies include Windows 2000 Terminal Services, Active Directory, Active Server Pages, ActiveX, and Microsoft database technologies, and along with Allegrix integration "glue," the result of which is a direct Windows(R) 2000-Terminal-Services solution. Utilizing these direct technologies, the Allegrix Application Center eliminates the need for using middleware to deploy Windows applications over the Internet, saving ASPs and their customers time and money in deploying and using Internet-based Windows applications. Direct technology also enables Microsoft resellers to become ASPs quickly since they can host and Web-enable their current Windows-based applications for immediate use by customers.
"Using Microsoft's Windows 2000 Terminal Services capabilities and other standard technologies is a big plus for our operation and our customers," said Scott Chapman, COO and Co-Founder of Allegrix. "Not only does this eliminate the need for costly middleware, but it also makes products that perform a Web-based brokering function for Windows applications virtually irrelevant. We are in the process of patenting this unique integration of technologies, but are willing to license and disclose this technology to other parties."
