KENT, Wash.,--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2000

UTILX Corporation (Nasdaq:UTLX) announces the launch of their new and improved website, http://www.utilx.com. The website will allow our existing and prospective customers to obtain information about UTILX and the services we offer to the electric power and telephone industries. Users of our new website will learn about the services that UTILX provides for utility underground infrastructure reliability solutions. Included in the features of our new website is a library of UTILX literature, case studies, and technical articles. These items can be viewed and printed on-line. There are also maps that allow prospective customers to contact the appropriate person for information in their geographic area.

Users can also access a cost savings and net present value analysis program to assist them in their underground cable reliability decision-making process. Early next year UTILX plans to add new features to the website including a Strategic Reliability Analysis tool that uses industry cable failure data to predict underground cable life cycles, as well as a data base that current customers can view to get information about the cable that UTILX has treated for them. "For the first time, power cable and telecom wire owners can access a rigorous net present value analysis online -- a powerful decision support tool," says Glen J. Bertini, Senior Vice President of UTILX. "Over the coming months, we will be adding additional tools which will help underground cable owners make the right strategic and tactical choices -- balancing reliability concerns and capital requirements for their buried cable infrastructure."

UTILX Corporation provides critical services for the installation and rejuvenation of aged underground infrastructure with proprietary CableCURE(R) solution in the U.S. and Canada through a network of regional sales and service centers. The Company also provides CableCURE services throughout Europe and Asia. UTILX is a wholly owned subsidiary of Puget Sound Energy, based in Bellevue, WA and the largest investor owned utility in Washington State.
