SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 2000
Wireless Knowledge Inc., a Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT) and QUALCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq:QCOM) company, Monday announced that Sprint PCS (NYSE:PCS), the nation's largest 100 percent digital, 100 percent PCS wireless data network, has now mobilized its own enterprise work force with Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle Server.
Workstyle Server is an enterprise communications tool that enables secure, real-time access to Microsoft(R) Exchange Server 5.5-based corporate e-mail, calendar and contacts via wireless and wireline devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and PCs including laptops and WebTV. The easily installable Workstyle Server software resides behind the corporate firewall and allows immediate communication with the corporate network.
Sprint PCS has purchased Workstyle Server seats to equip its own nationwide, business-to-business sales force with wireless corporate network access. This will enable them to offer live demonstrations of Workstyle Server during sales presentations, and keep in touch with the flow of critical information at the office. Key executives will also use Workstyle Server to gain access to the corporate network while away from the office.
"Already a key partner for the recently announced Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business, Wireless Knowledge brings tremendous value and considerable wireless data expertise to our enterprise customers," said Charles Levine, chief sales and marketing officer of Sprint PCS.
"Now, our mobile work force can leverage the industry-leading capabilities of Workstyle Server to enhance customer responsiveness and productivity by staying connected to the corporate network -- whether they're on the road or just away from their desk. It also enables our national sales force to better understand and demonstrate the benefits of this wireless application firsthand to our business customers."
"Sprint PCS was early to embrace the wireless Internet as a service provider, and is now leading the charge to mobilize its own work force with wireless access to critical corporate information using Workstyle Server and Internet-ready Sprint PCS phones," said Eric V. Schultz, chairman and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. "This nationwide carrier is also an enterprise with mobile workers in need of quick, reliable access to their corporate network wherever their business takes them."
Sprint PCS and Wireless Knowledge recently announced a joint marketing and selling agreement to offer Workstyle Server to Sprint PCS enterprise customers nationwide as part of Sprint's Wireless Web for Business. In addition, Wireless Knowledge is a Premier Partner in the Sprint PCS Application Developer's Program.
As part of this program, Wireless Knowledge's professional services team will assist Sprint PCS customers with development of Web-based applications that are wirelessly accessible over the Sprint PCS nationwide wireless data network.
