PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 2000
Interliant, Inc. (NASDAQ: INIT), a leading global application service provider (ASP), today announced it has been selected by ROUTEMaster, a nationwide provider of mission-critical transportation facilitating services, to host its unique Web-based Total Transportation Management Marketplace (T2M2) application. Interliant will provide ROUTEMaster with managed dedicated hosting, along with firewall and virtual private network (VPN) security solutions.
ROUTEMaster's revolutionary solution provides integrated online business processes for freight transportation. Its national and international transportation marketplace -www.routemaster.com-- provides small to midsize companies with the tools previously only available to large companies with large IT budgets and staffs. The T2M2 product offers transportation professionals a complete solution for managing their transportation processes. It includes a marketplace to buy and/or sell transportation services, online management of in-transit shipments, secure ACH payments, and online reporting and analysis. A community page keeps the transportation marketplace abreast of current topics of interest.
When ROUTEMaster originally went online in July 1999, the company founders quickly learned that their then-service/hosting provider could not provide the services they required, according to Stuart Miller, vice president of e-commerce for ROUTEMaster. "Interliant delivers the reliability and the wealth of resources we needed to launch our mission-critical application to the entire business community," he said. "Our application is our core business; if our site goes down, our customers' operations go down, and that is not acceptable.
"We chose Interliant because they provided the most flexible solutions and demonstrated the ability and the initiative to live up to what they proposed," said Miller. "With Interliant we receive constant communication in every step of the process and are given every opportunity to make the decisions. We reviewed the capabilities of a number of ASPs, and Interliant's service is far better than any we've ever seen before."
"Interliant is the technology partner best positioned to lead companies like ROUTEMaster into the future with minimal risk and maximum flexibility," said David Caples, Interliant VP for Eastern Region Sales. "This is a great example of a Web-based company that has realized the value of letting a dedicated team of technology professionals worry 24/7 about maintaining operating systems, providing security, and backing up data. Because we have the experience and resources to handle all these issues, ROUTEMaster can concentrate on adding and enhancing services to meet its customers' needs."
