Outsourcing Institute Appoints Michael Berta, Ph.D. New President/Chief Operating Officer

The Board of Directors of The Outsourcing Institute (OI), www.outsourcing.com, the largest professional association and executive network for outsourcing professionals worldwide, today announced the appointment of Michael A. Berta, Ph.D., as President and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Berta succeeds Frank J. Casale, who was elevated to Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.

A former White House advisor, inventor and seasoned outsourcing executive, Dr. Berta will assist in the development of the business strategy and planning and be responsible for the operation of the business and the execution of the business plan.

Dr. Michael A. Berta has enjoyed a multi-faceted career replete with a long list of achievements in both public and private sectors. Before joining OI, he was president and chief executive officer of Intellisource, Vienna, VA, an IT outsourcing provider. While there Dr. Berta positioned the company to be one of the leading providers of enterprise desktop service to the federal government and led them in winning several new contracts which grew the annual revenue by more than 60%.
Commenting on his new position, Dr. Berta said, "I look forward to working with Frank and the other members of the Outsourcing Institute. Prior to Intellisource, Dr. Berta served as president and chief executive officer of RMS which, under his guidance, became a leader in the design, development, integration and operation of information management and network systems, working with both commercial and government customers. Prior to that, Berta was president of Hughes Information Technology Corporation (HITC), a subsidiary of Hughes Electronic Corporation.
Dr. Berta is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. While working at the White House, he received the Presidential Service Award. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, in Physical Chemistry.
