Samsung SDS Expands Packaged Application Business In the US

Samsung SDS America, the $10 million US Corporation funded by Korea's $1 billion information technology company Samsung SDS, has announced its determination to expand its packaged application business in the US.
The premier information technology company providing services from IT consulting and training to systems integration and IT outsourcing services, Samsung SDS also has a number of packaged applications such as groupware, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for small and medium enterprises, Data Base (DB) querying and reporting tool and a multi-file scanning application.
"People do not know that Samsung SDS is not just a systems integration company but also has many software applications of our own," said Mr. Kelvin Kim, Vice President of the e-Support Division at Samsung SDS America. "We are committed to expanding this software business in the US and we are actively seeking distributors and business partners willing to Americanize our products for the US market."
As a step towards expanding the packaged application business in the US, Samsung SDS is spending over $1 miilion on marketing and Public Relations for software products and is planning to exhibit over 10 different products at the COMDEX Fall in Las Vegas. Among these products are four that Samsung SDS is strategically promoting. They are Single2000 which offers business solutions such as Groupware, Data Management System (DMS), Knowledge Management System (KMS) and workflow in a single integrated infrastructure, uniERP2000 which offers internet based Enterprise Resource Planning for Small and Medium Enterprises, ReQube which is a simple to use Internet-based database querying and reporting tool, and WiseVIEW, a multi-viewer capable of viewing and converting 2D and 3D files of different types.
"Apart from promoting our own products, we are also planning to invest in and incubate startup companies with good software products," added Dr. Wontae Son, Vice President of e-Service Division at Samsung SDS America. Samsung SDS America is already investing in several US-based venture companies, among them WISEnut, an Internet venture company developing a best of breed Internet search engine.
