PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2000
Havok, the leading provider of real time physics technology, has committed to integrating its technology with new technologies that Macromedia and Intel are co-developing to bring fully interactive 3D and physical simulations online using the Macromedia Shockwave Player.
This collaboration will mean that the experience of interacting with web based 3D content will change dramatically; online games will feature highly realistic interactive environments, online vendors will be able to allow customers to fully interact with their products, students will learn in 3D teaching environments that enable them to explore new ideas in a completely intuitive way.
"Macromedia and Intel are working together to provide an infrastructure for delivering rich, 3D content online to a majority of Web users," said Doug Wyrick, director of product management for Macromedia. "Integrating Havok's physics software with that infrastructure is going to raise the bar for content and show what 3D on the web is really capable of."
According to Hugh Reynolds, CEO of Havok, "We are delighted to be a part of this effort led by Intel and Macromedia to create a truly ubiquitous 3D web platform to create fully interactive and immersive 3D web content that behaves in a realistic manner: virtual fashion stores will have clothing that sways and twirls with the movement of the models, online car games will feature vehicles with suspension and handling identical to the real thing.
"Surgeons will collaborate through web pages to plan and train for complex surgical procedures using sophisticated simulations of tissue. Our authoring tools coupled with the real time player technology enable drag and drop creation of complex 3D environments and connect web users with online 3D content in a completely transparent and intuitive way."
About Havok
Havok develops and markets real-time physics software for digital entertainment and web-based applications. Havok is already used by some of the world's leading media companies to create online content (Shockwave.com), interactive entertainment (Universal Studios, Valve LLC) and movies (Blur Studios).
Havok technology is the most powerful real time physical simulation solution available. It offers integrated rigid body, soft body, fluid, cloth, aerodynamics and particle dynamics across all consumer level hardware platforms including PC, Mac, Linux, PS2 and the upcoming X-box.
With offices in Palo Alto, Calif., Munich, Germany and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Havok is the entertainment technology wing of Telekinesys Research Limited.
