CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 2000

New LASD System Will Facilitate Investigations by Providing Easy

Access to Information

Datamax Technologies Inc. Thursday announced that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is implementing its VisiFLOW Business Process Automation solution as part of the Phase I deployment of the Sheriff's Integrated Records Retrieval and Assembly System (SIRRAS) this month.

By incorporating VisiFLOW's document imaging, workflow and legacy data aggregation technologies, SIRRAS will enable LASD personnel to access incident reports and incarceration records via a Web browser. Perhaps most important, VisiFLOW will allow these reports to be interfaced with existing LASD data systems to facilitate investigations.

SIRRAS, through VisiFLOW, will provide easy access to the information and documents in these various LASD systems and significantly reduces the time spent searching for documents.

In addition, the new system will allow LASD employees across the county to access these reports, while permitting other county, state and federal agencies to access documents and information within the system as well as allowing citizens access to public information.

According to Bix Kroener, vice president and general manager of Datamax Technologies, the LASD project is quite extensive and involves integration points with a myriad of existing applications and work processes.

Datamax is coordinating all systems development, consulting, training, project management and providing services of similar nature that may be necessary for the successful completion of this phase of the project.

"We are very pleased that we were selected by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department as their document imaging and workflow vendor of choice," Kroener said. "It is another strong indicator of our commitment to the public sector. Our system will enable the LASD to achieve their goals in enhancing law enforcement while also streamlining communication with other agencies and facilitating public information access."
