SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2000
EPSON Research and Development Inc. (ERD), the world market leader in embedded graphics LCD controllers, Monday announced that it now supports Wind River Systems Inc.'s WindML(TM)2.0 Multimedia Library.
Wind River's latest WindML(TM) multimedia framework is the underlying graphics technology for the Zinc(TM) 6.0 widget library, which expands the framework to a full user interface (UI) toolkit, providing customers with a time-saving, off-the-shelf solution. WindML, with driver support from EPSON's SED13xx series graphics controllers, significantly reduces time-to-market for applications such as digital TV, point-of-sale terminals, gaming machines, handheld devices, Internet appliances and driver information systems.
The support offered by EPSON's graphics controllers allows easy modification using a simple configuration program, enabling customers to bring to market quickly a functional, attractive and easy-to-use user interface.
"EPSON's driver support for WindML is a strategic step in expanding leading industry support for the SED13xx series of graphics controllers," said Kevin Gillett, director, Strategic Platforms and Systems Integration, EPSON Research and Development.
"EPSON's LCD controllers, with their easy configuration program, facilitate faster time-to-market, which is a key goal at Wind River as we strive to help our customers develop connected, smart devices in an expanding Internet age," said Dave Sheaffer, senior director of product marketing for Wind River's Platforms business unit. EPSON's WindML driver support is available now and is provided royalty free with source code with the purchase of SED13xx controllers.
