ELMSFORD, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2000
InfoValue Computing, Inc., the industry's leading producer of broadband video streaming solutions, announced today that its award-winning QuickVideo Suite (QVS) software will be distributed with the next release of the Red Hat Linux operating system.
Red Hat, the leader in open-source Internet infrastructure solutions, will include QVS on its Linux Application Library CD, shipping with the Deluxe and Professional Editions of Red Hat Linux 7.
QVS is a set of software solutions that transform ordinary PCs into efficient and powerful video streaming servers. Fully IP-compatible, QVS is an ideal solution for corporate communications, computer-based training/education, entertainment, video libraries, kiosks, and other video-enabled Intranet/Extranet applications. QVS provides high-quality video solutions that are flexible, scaleable, cost-effective and easy to use. QVS also offers unprecedented streaming performance, with the ability to stream over 800Mbps of video data simultaneously from a single off-the-shelf Intel-based PC server. QVS is format independent, thus allowing the presentation of the highest quality video while preserving investments already made in content.
"The combination of the open-source Red Hat Linux operating system and InfoValue's QuickVideo Suite software makes a very powerful, yet cost-effective streaming solution," said Dr. Bodhi Mukherjee, Vice President of Engineering and Development at InfoValue. "The stability and flexibility offered by Red Hat Linux make it an ideal platform for our broadband, scaleable video servers."
The Red Hat Linux Application Library CD will contain Linux versions of InfoValue's award winning video-on-demand and IP multicast client-server software, QuickVideo OnDemand and QuickVideo Multicast. These Linux-based QuickVideo components are interoperable with the existing Windows versions of InfoValue's software.
"The inclusion of InfoValue's QVS for Linux on our Deluxe and Professional packages brings additional value, power and functionality to users of Red Hat Linux 7," said Paul McNamara, vice president of Products and Platforms, Red Hat. "We're pleased to deliver this efficient video streaming software to our millions of users around the world."
QVS for Linux is available now through leading Value-Added Resellers in the US and through InfoValue distributors overseas.
