RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2000
Inet Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:INTI), a leading global provider of communication software solutions for next-generation networks, today announced an agreement with Global Crossing (Nasdaq:GBLX) for an expansion of its existing GeoProbe(TM) system and the purchase of Inet's Transport Adapter Layer Interface (TALI(TM)) monitoring application.
Global Crossing will incorporate this application into the North American Crossing network.
Global Crossing is building the world's most extensive global IP-based fiber-optic network spanning 27 countries, five continents and 200 major cities with more than 101,000 route miles of fiber. Global Crossing Ltd. provides local, long-distance, and international phone service; Internet access; and data transport and network capacity.
The TALI application offers a single solution for complete visibility into both the SS7 and IP networks. A comprehensive view of both networks from one platform will allow Global Crossing to ensure service quality is consistent across the two disparate network systems while reducing the carrier's infrastructure costs.
"We've used Inet's GeoProbe to ensure the reliability of our signaling network for over two years," said Gary Cohen, chief operating officer for Global Crossing Ltd. "And we're confident that it will provide us with the same unparalleled business and operational efficiencies in the IP world that we've seen in the SS7 environment."
"As today's networks evolve from circuit-switched to packet-based systems, we have extended our expertise to encompass the IP side of signaling as well," said Elie Akilian, Inet's president and chief executive officer. "Global Crossing is a cutting-edge communications provider. Their decision to purchase our TALI monitoring application speaks to our leadership position in signaling for next-generation networks. We continuously strive to meet the evolving needs of our clients and the ever-changing landscape of this industry."
About GeoProbe
Inet's GeoProbe system provides real-time, network-wide monitoring of a carrier's signaling network for operational and maintenance benefits and also serves as a sophisticated data forwarding engine for Inet's IT:seven(TM) revenue assurance applications. The GeoProbe's capabilities in the circuit-switched environment are being extended to next-generation networks. Other planned developments include expanding the capability of the system to monitor signaling over high-speed, broadband signaling links.
