WARREN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2000
ANADIGICS (Nasdaq:ANAD), a leading supplier of wireless and broadband communications solutions, today introduced the ARA3000, a new reverse path amplifier targeted specifically for the residential gateway and IP Telephony applications.
The ARA3000 compensates for noisy reverse paths that can plague typical cable systems and allows cable operators to remotely diagnose and isolate noise ingress problems that have the potential to take down the cable system.
"IP Telephony places new demands on the cable infrastructure," remarks Ron Michels, Vice President of ANADIGICS Cable and Broadcast Business Segment. "ANADIGICS has developed a product that allows the cable system operator to remotely isolate noise ingress problems in order to keep the cable system operating at maximum efficiency. A perfect cable system would not require this product. However, in a typical cable system, the ARA3000 is capable of amplifying signal levels from the house insuring highly reliable upstream data transmission, even over a "lossy" cable system.
The ARA3000, which was designed with a major customer to support the IP Telephony architectures being developed by AT&T and other cable system owners, allows the residential gateway to compensate for any additional system losses in the return band between the home and the tap.
"This product was designed to specifically improve performance and reliability of cable IP Telephony systems," remarks Dr. Bami Bastani, President & CEO of ANADIGICS. "By developing this product with our residential gateway customer to be compatible with AT&T and other cable systems, we have created a product that addresses the issues of the cable systems provider and anticipate volume ramps as soon as AT&T and other cable system owners begin their IP Telephony infrastructure build-out."
The devices are manufactured at the Company's state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey and are 100% tested before shipping. The ARA3000 is priced at $7.75 in quantities of 1,000 pieces and samples will be available in late October. For additional information, contact ANADIGICS by phone 908/668-5000 or FAX 908/668-5132.
