NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2000
MetLife announced today the introduction of electronic bill payment via the Internet to its business to business customers. On-line bill payment is now
available to MetLife clients through MetLink (www.metlink.com), MetLife's on-line benefits web site for employers.
After a successful pilot program beginning in November 1999, the on-line bill payment option is now fully available to all MetLife clients who are MetLink customers. Through MetLink's online billing program, employers have the opportunity to link billing and payment information and authorize Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) via the Internet. Customers can pay bills electronically and have real-time access to account balances and supporting transactions on-line. The program also allows employers to track billing information from regional offices and to eliminate a lot of the paperwork associated with benefits administration.
"We are excited to offer the electronic bill payment feature to our MetLife clients," said Sachin N. Shah, MetLife Vice President, Institutional Business E-commerce. "This new feature is another added value we offer our customers through MetLink. At MetLife, we understand the demands of benefits administration and with innovative technology we are able to provide our customers with smart solutions to help them make the right decisions," added Mr. Shah.
Electronic bill payment is the newest feature of MetLink. Through MetLink, MetLife clients are able to have instant online access to their benefit plans. MetLink offers employers self-billing, list billing data, enrollment and eligibility records, dental and disability claims information and financial reports. MetLink is available to MetLife business to business customers at no additional charge. MetLife launched MetLink in August 1997 and currently has over 1,000 customers using the integrated on-line benefits web site.
