SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2000
Amdahl Corporation and its subsidiary, DMR Consulting, today announced a new Application Service Provider (ASP) alliance with Oracle Corporation that will make the competitive benefits of the Oracle E-Business Suite, available online to all companies, from startups to Fortune 500 multinationals.
The agreement leverages both Amdahl and DMR Consulting's recently announced Extended Enterprise (EE) Platform and covers the entire suite of Oracle enterprise software including manufacturing, human resources, supply chain management, customer relationship management (CRM), and financial systems. The EE Platform represents a major evolution of the current electronic marketplace. Utilizing an ASP delivery mechanism, the EE platform will deliver value in the form of business services, enabling companies to streamline processes, reduce costs, and increase revenues while maximizing integration at the critical B2B level.
Amdahl's expertise in management of mission critical applications, DMR Consulting's skill in design and implementation of enterprise applications, and Oracle's leading suite of integrated enterprise applications add up to the most comprehensive ASP solution available in the market today.
"The value proposition is critical in the ASP market," said Gary Bloom, executive vice president, Oracle Corp. "The combination of Oracle's E-Business Suite, the strength of Amdahl's relationships across the enterprise IT market and DMR Consulting's depth of professional consulting expertise will provide a strong ASP solution for customers."
Under the terms of the agreement, Amdahl becomes an Oracle Authorized Applications Provider (OAAP). As an OAAP, Amdahl will provide an array of enhanced hosting and application integration services for the Oracle E-Business Suite in both the US and Europe for virtually any operating environment including MVS(TM), Solaris(TM), and Windows NT(TM). As a result, companies will be able to bring new, mission critical applications online quickly and inexpensively.
"Application service provision is not just a simple hosting job," said David Wright, President and CEO of Amdahl. "There is no organization that can get an enterprise application up and running better or faster than DMR Consulting, and there is no company that knows more about managing mission critical applications, seven days per week, twenty-four hours per day, than Amdahl."
Amdahl has more than 3,000 people focused on infrastructure deployment and data center operations to assist customers in migrating to the ASP model. DMR Consulting will work with each customer to ensure that each software solution is integrated into other business processes and systems. DMR Consulting has worked with Oracle for more than 15 years and has more than 10,000 consultants worldwide.
