Agreement To Provide LongRun Chipsets to CPE Vendors Combined with

Broadmedia CPE Products Enables Additional Broadband Services to

Multi-Tenant Buildings

Broadmedia Inc., a developer of solutions for voice-over-Internet telephony and "last 300 meter" connectivity, today announced an ageement with Tut Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ:TUTS) a leading supplier of multi-service broadband access systems for commercial properties, hotels, dormitories, apartments and other multi-tenant units (MTU). Broadmedia has been certified by Tut Systems to develop and market chipset suites, network interface cards (NIC) and future products such as broadband Internet access devices based on Tut Systems' LongRun technology.

Tut's LongRun technology enables a building's existing telephone wiring to be used as a computer network. Broadmedia products, including the chipset suites and the HPN NIC's and adapters, use LongRun technology to interface computers and peripherals to the telephone wiring. The resulting home phoneline network gives all interfaced devices access to a common broadband connection (such as DSL) as well as connectivity with each other. Each HPN adapter can be as far away as 2500 feet from the broadband access router or access concentrator.

"Incorporating the Tut LongRun technology into the Broadmedia chipset suits, HPN NIC's and HPN adapters enables our product line to support larger MTU environments, such as campuses, apartments and high-rise buildings," said Ting Herh, Broadmedia Chairman, CEO and President. "Because the HPN adapters use a building's existing telephone wiring instead of a specially installed data network, service providers and building owners now have a readily deployable and highly cost-effective way to give multiple tenants access to a single broadband connection. The integration of Broadmedia's semiconductor technology for LAN and WAN communications with Tut's industry leading multi-tenant access technology will generate new revenue for our companies and our customers. The benefit to end users is tremendous."

Broadmedia offers standalone and PCI card versions of its HPN adapters. In addition, the company is planning on integrating LongRun technology into an Internet phone and a set-top box. As easy to use as a standard telephone, the Internet phone will enable tenants to use Broadmedia's worldwide freeTone network instead of standard carriers when making long distance calls. This will enable MTU residents who make frequent international calls to save considerable money.

Just as the Internet phone will save MTU residents money, the soon-to-be-offered set-top box will save them time. This network appliance will use Tut's LongRun technology to enable hotel and apartment dwellers to order food, check out equipment, reserve special rooms and perform other valuable tasks by using their TV' remote control (no computer is required).

"Becoming a member of Tut's Connected Partner program is a good move for Broadmedia," said Herh. "Integrating LongRun technology into our voice-over-IP products increases our opportunity to generate more revenue and benefit more end-users."

As part of the Connected agreement, Broadmedia and Tut Systems will mutually promote the LongRun solution, which typically includes chipset suits, NIC cards, and in the future, Broadmedia HPN Adapters, Broadmedia IP-phones and gateways, and the Tut Expresso family of multiplexing and subscriber management products.

"By partnering with Broadmedia, Tut adds more breadth and depth to its LongRun product family, thereby increasing its product offering to service providers," concludes Mark A. Carpenter, Vice President of Marketing for Tut Systems. "These new options allows service providers to deploy solutions to virtually any multi-tenant environment with the assurance that the entire system meets Tut's high quality standards and has the plug-an-play compatibility to make deployments fast and cost-effective."

About the Connected Program

The Tut Systems Connected Program, ensures compatibility between products offered by third-party developers and Tut Systems. Tut partners are subject to rigorous system compatibility and quality testing in Tut labs. After the completion of testing, companies receive a Tut certification logo to indicate to service providers that these products offer the highest quality and are fully interoperable with Tut's full line of equipment based on the LongRun technology.
