SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2001
Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation IP infrastructure systems, today announced that Tiscali, one of Europe's largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs), has selected Juniper Networks M-series for its core IP backbone in Europe. Tiscali is one of the largest and fastest-growing Internet network companies in Europe, providing access, content, applications and services to 10.7 million registered subscribers in Europe.
With its presence in 15 countries, Tiscali has the largest geographical footprint of any European Internet provider. Tiscali's choice of Juniper Networks routers comes after it certified Juniper Networks as one of the preferred vendors of the Tiscali Group for core routers. The next important step in Tiscali's European rollout will involve the deployment of Juniper Networks M40(TM) routers across its Germany wide IP backbone. The M40 routers will be installed in Points-of-Presence (POPs) throughout six major cities in Germany. The POPs will be connected through OC-48/STM-16 circuits.
Tiscali Germany provides Internet services to more than 1.1 million customers in Germany. These services range from Internet access for consumers, and businesses, as well as data hosting. Juniper Networks proven architecture and robust JUNOS(TM) software ensure that Tiscali will be able to provide high performance services very reliably.
"The choice of Juniper Networks as a Tiscali Partner is a result of the desire to develop a fast, reliable and safe backbone network for our customers. In addition the deployment of Juniper Networks core routers gives us the opportunity to implement MPLS technology in our network," said chief technology officer Paolo Susnik, Tiscali International.
