DigitalOwl, the first digital rights management company to mobilize and market premium digital information through targeted Web sites and handheld devices, today announced a deal with AMACOM, the publishing division of the American Management Association, to make whole titles and excerpts of popular business, career and professional eBooks available for purchase and digital delivery to handheld devices via the Internet.
DigitalOwl's flagship product, the secure content delivery system known as KineticEdge(TM), will protect AMACOM's copyrights while creating broader revenue opportunities through a retail network of niche Web sites, portals and vertical marketplaces.
Hundreds of AMACOM titles and content items will be immediately available via DigitalOwl's expansive network of online retail partners in the career and self-help market verticals. In addition, specific selections from each title will be securely packaged and prepared for digital delivery using a slice-and-dice feature that is the hallmark of KineticEdge(TM).
For instance, The AMA Management Handbook will be available for purchase as a complete title for $110, or consumers may purchase only those chapters that are most relevant to their needs, such as those about Human Resources or Accounting, for $9.95 each.
"DigitalOwl's ability to work with a variety of digital formats and handheld devices makes it a particularly attractive tool for our AMA members and other users of management information," said Rosemary Carlough, VP of Intellectual Property and Web Strategies at AMACOM. "The Internet provides the most efficient vehicle to distribute AMACOM content, and the ability to select book excerpts for purchase at various price points should give us a great competitive advantage."
Other AMACOM titles that will be packaged and distributed by DigitalOwl include The Nine Natural Laws of Leadership, The Rookie Manager, The AMA Handbook of Project Management and Workplace Warrior.
"Digital distribution and purchase allows for instant gratification for busy business professionals and it is a complementary delivery method to the traditional executive summaries most professionals are asked to consume on a regular basis," said Kirstie Chadwick, chief executive officer at DigitalOwl. "Most business professionals agree that information leadership is crucial to the development of strong companies and business models, and DigitalOwl can deliver that information on demand with the most flexible, most efficient and most valuable means available today."
