New Windows 2000 Support in ServerXchange 2.5 Enables Service

Providers to Increase Revenues and Reduce Support Costs

Ensim Corporation, the dominant hosting automation provider, announced today a new version of its flagship product, ServerXchange, to support hosting on Windows(R) 2000 in addition to Solaris(TM) and Redhat Linux. Ensim's new ServerXchange 2.5 applies the benefits that were previously available to hosting providers on Solaris and Redhat Linux operating systems to Windows 2000. This enables service providers to offer additional services to their customers based on the Windows 2000 environment and leads to increased revenue and reduced support cost for their hosting infrastructure.

With ServerXchange 2.5, hosting providers can now instantly develop a hosting business either directly or through a reseller channel under Windows 2000 environments. ServerXchange also includes Ensim's new Kick-Start feature, which allows any server to become a Web hosting appliance that runs all the basic programs to start and manage a Web hosting business for Windows 2000.

"Most of our customers offer services not only on Linux and Solaris, but also on Windows 2000," said Rosen Sharma, president and CEO of Ensim. "This upgrade makes it possible for hosting providers to simplify the deployment, provisioning and management of hosted services on multiple operating systems."

Web Hosting appliances created by ServerXchange 2.5 support Web and e-mail services for hundreds of domains on a single server. To empower the entire value chain of users, the browser-based interface has the same three levels of administration (hosting provider, reseller and end-customer) that have always been standard on ServerXchange.

Providers of Windows 2000-based hosting plans gain many of the benefits currently enjoyed by existing ServerXchange customers of Solaris and Red Hat Linux, such as:

-- Powerful point and click, remote administration interface for the service
provider.

-- A complete set of automation tools for provisioning, deployment and
configuration of servers, customers and hosting plans.

-- Easy-to-use customer self-administration tools for resellers and end
customer.

-- Mass administration of deployed services.

As with earlier versions, ServerXchange 2.5 supports AppXchange, Ensim's Internet portal for distribution of updates and new services. By enabling hosting providers to select new services and perform updates safely and easily, AppXchange dramatically reduces the complexity traditionally associated with the introduction and administration of service plans.

Relatedly, Ensim made two additional announcements today: WEBppliance LS, which enables hosting providers to instantly transform a Linux server into a Web Hosting appliance that can be used to create tiered hosting plans; and a worldwide joints sales, marketing and development initiative with Compaq Computer Corp. Please see those press releases.
