Data Archiving with IXOS-eCONserver Results in Cost Savings, Optimal

System Performance and Improved Productivity

IXOS SOFTWARE AG (Nasdaq:XOSY)(Neuer Markt:XOS), a worldwide leading provider of eBusiness document management solutions in inter-enterprise system environments, announced today that Belden Communications Division has realized many benefits by utilizing IXOS-eCONserver for data archiving enterprise-wide. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, Belden Communications is a division of Belden, Inc., and manufactures state-of-the-art communications products which support outside plant, customer premises, and broadband networks. The company chose IXOS over other vendors mainly because of the product`s seamless integration with SAP(TM) R/3(R).

Belden is archiving data in all of its SAP modules, including finance (FI), Materials Management (MM), Production and Planning (PP) and Sales and Distribution (SD). Belden's database is now 200 gigabytes, and growing at 2.7 gigabytes per month. Samuel Rios, Senior Basis Administrator, said, "We've definitely noticed system performance improvements as a result of archiving with IXOS, and now we no longer have to keep buying storage to control growth."

Belden is planning an upgrade from SAP R/3 version 3.1c to 4.6c, which requires archiving specific tables to reduce the size of the database. Mr. Rios said, "We knew that we would optimize system performance by using IXOS, but we were recently pleasantly surprised when we realized that by archiving with IXOS, we`re also prepared ahead of time for our system upgrade."

In addition, the company typically performs table reorganizations during a six-hour period on Sundays. Mr. Rios said, "Prior to IXOS, we never could finish our table reorganizations during that time window. Now that the tables are smaller, we can easily complete it within six hours."

Belden is also utilizing IXOS to store ASCII flat files (used for tax audits) which are extracted using SAP's Data Retention Tool (DART). Mr. Rios said, "With IXOS, it's very easy to extract a DART extract. It used to take up to a day to restore one of these files -- and now it's about 5-10 minutes."
