Riptech(SM), Inc., the only provider of real-time managed security services, today introduced Caltarian, Riptech's next-generation information security technology platform that delivers real-time detection, analysis, and response to prevent emerging threats from affecting business-critical operations. Riptech's suite of Real-Time Managed Security services offers tailored information security protection to customers and partners.
Building on its successful first-generation eSentry offering, the Caltarian technology platform provides real-time event activity interpretation to identify seemingly unrelated attacks and probes as coordinated and legitimate threats. Analysts at Riptech's Security Operations Center (SOC) monitor all security data 24x7 to immediately repel malicious activities. The Secure Internet Interface provides Riptech customers with an intuitive, holistic view of all security activities and analyst recommendations - empowering customers to take an active role in the information security process.
"Strong information security combines intelligence analysis with rapid response to identify and eradicate malicious activities before they impact operations or breach business-critical information," said Tim Belcher, chief technology officer at Riptech, Inc. "Through enhanced information security intelligence and around-the-clock analysis, Caltarian enables a preemptive strike against new malicious activities."
"The managed security services business model enables customers to leverage professional expertise and technologies without further straining in-house resources," said Peter Lindstrom, senior analyst, Security Strategies for Hurwitz Group. "The ability to correlate security data and gain a holistic, real-time understanding of company-wide security activities is important as business complexity increases."
"Riptech's Caltarian technology platform provides the unique ability for us to see penetration attempts in context. Rather than seeing multiple separate unrelated events, Caltarian accumulates and correlates to allow us to efficiently analyze and see any trends on our networks," said Kurt Ziegler, CEO of eBSure, Inc. "This capability is paramount in order to effectively detect intrusion attempts and protect our business. We use Riptech's Secure Internet Interface to access our pertinent information and then review the analysts' recommendations."
Caltarian, which means "wise shield" in Welsh, reflects Riptech's ability to intelligently repel security threats. Riptech identifies malicious activities overlooked by other managed services through its intelligent approach to real-time security event correlation. The Caltarian technology platform quickly correlates and prioritizes event severity based on multiple criteria including: date and time; attack source; attack direction and attack destination. Caltarian also examines security devices by tracking each system message, error, administrative procedure, and management activity within the architecture. Complementing correlated security events, Riptech analysts further review activities to filter false positives, rate security events according to severity and issue recommendations.
The Secure Internet Interface provides Riptech customers with a full view into all security activities and analyst actions. Protected by token-based authorization, customers utilize powerful query tools to review Riptech analyst recommendations and alerts, conduct specialized searches across all log data, and request management updates.
Added integration with host-based intrusion detection systems (IDS) and additional vendor products extends Riptech support for leading firewalls, network-based IDS, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and other security devices. The Caltarian technology platform enables Riptech service customization to support partner and customer requirements. The flexible Caltarian architecture seamlessly supports additional security products and infrastructure.
Designed for total scalability, Caltarian adds additional customers immediately while maintaining performance and response Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Caltarian's architecture enables failover between multiple SOCs for additional 24x7 uptime and assurance. Riptech offers full lifecycle security, from business-based information security policy development, through device installation, monitoring, and management. Minimal initial setup facilitates rapid Caltarian deployment.
