IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 2001
Western Telematic Inc., an industry leader in remote site management hardware, announced a new, economical way to do a simple remote reboot: The New Telnet Power Switch (TPS-2).
The TPS-2 is designed for users of any type of electronic equipment that you cannot access easily. For example, in the current age of IP-enabled information, we see the use of webcams, they're set-up at nearly every location of interest (displaying surf conditions, weather stations, traffic conditions, etc...) How do webcam operators get to their equipment to reset it, or turn it on or off? Simply plug the equipment into the new TPS-2, and reset it from any laptop or system that can access the network, and the dilemma is solved.
Electronic equipment sometimes "locks-up" requiring a service call just to flip the power switch to perform a simple reboot. The TPS-2 gives you the ability to perform this function from anywhere on the LAN/WAN, or if the network is down, to simply dial-in from a modem for out-of-band control.
Dave Morrison, president and CEO, "The TPS is the newest member of our NetReach(TM) line of Remote Network Management Solutions. Our existing Network-based Power Switch (NPS) has eight individual outlets; this new TPS-2 is a simple two outlet unit providing a more economical solution for remote power control. Several companies have requested this practical solution for smaller applications, and we're happy to have designed it for them."
The TPS is intelligent power control; it can communicate over any TCP/IP network using standard Telnet, or out-of-band using an external modem and basic VT 100 type terminal emulation. Each outlet can be assigned an individual password, device name, reboot delay time and unique power-up default state.
The TPS-2 lists for $395. WTI sales can be reached at 800/854-7226, or visit the company's Web site: www.wti.com.
