BRUSSELS, Belgium and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001--SeeBeyond (Nasdaq:SBYN), the leading global provider of eBI solutions, today announced that Carrefour Belgium chose SeeBeyond as its real-time supply chain integration platform.
Carrefour Group is Europe's number one retailer and the second largest retailer globally. It is a recognized innovator in the development of hypermarkets and supermarket combinations that sell food, clothing, electronics, and household appliances, among other items, at discounted prices. Integrating SAP Retail with other legacy systems, SeeBeyond will allow Carrefour Belgium to develop a new IT architecture for its 450 hypermarkets and supermarkets and central offices to respond to evolving customer demands while significantly reducing systems implementation and maintenance costs.
Faced with increased competition, the retail industry is responding by streamlining its supply chain using techniques such as Available-To-Promise (ATP) and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI). This is achieved by integrating the supply chain from the point-of-sale systems straight through to the back office, and then on to the supply and distribution chain partners. By taking the inefficiencies out of the supply chain and enabling partners to do collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) in real time, Carrefour Belgium will be able to better meet customer demands, as well as time and cost constraints.
Michel s'Jongers, IT Director for Carrefour Belgium said, "Constantly improving the customer experience is our number one priority. SeeBeyond will enable us to have end-to-end visibility of our supply chain and deliver accurate availability-to-promise to our customers while reducing our replenishment and inventory costs."
Major retailers such as PETsMART, FNAC, Barnes & Noble.com, Ames Department Stores and Cactus, as well as retail and supply chain marketplaces such as Nistevo and Marrakech, have all chosen SeeBeyond as their B2B supply chain integration platform.
"As the focus of the New Economy has swung to `Dot BAM (Brick and Mortar)' companies with their existing customer and market relationships, it has become clear that the winners in the marketplace will be those who enable the core business processes of the Global 2000 through the Internet," said David Bennett, vice president and general manager for SeeBeyond Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Our focus and leadership in providing scalable B2B business process management is making us the solution of choice to aggregate, and drive, core supply chain and eCRM processes for leading organizations around the world."
