Corgi Classics Secures Dedicated Space at FAO Schwarz
Business Wire, April 23, 2001

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001
Corgi Classics Limited ("Corgi") and FAO Schwarz have signed a cooperative merchandising agreement calling for an allotment of dedicated space in three more FAO Schwarz stores -- New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas -- where custom-made fixtures will house Corgi Classics die-cast replica collectibles.
Pat Hannon, senior buyer, FAO Schwarz, believes Corgi's expanded presence in three of the largest stores operated by the leading toy retailer is a positive move for both companies.
"When you take quality products such as Corgi's die-cast replicas and feature them prominently, you create an opportunity to reach a new audience or collector that may have overlooked these products in the past," Hannon said. "Certainly, we've been impressed with the interest we've begun to see developing for Corgi products in the United States and want to be part of the evolution of the line. And pairing with a brand like Corgi is good for FAO Schwarz."
The move to dedicated space in three more retail outlets is a direct result of the success Corgi Classics models have had in the Chicago flagship FAO Schwarz store since fall 2000. In the Chicago store, the collectibles are located in a fixture at the entrance of the third floor vehicle section where FAO Schwarz merchandises more than 40 Corgi models.
Corgi Vice President John Dunkel believes the company's partnership with FAO Schwarz can only strengthen the brand. "Our presence and dedicated space in FAO Schwarz establishes a definitive presence in the U.S. collectible and toy landscape," said Dunkel. "This is key for Corgi U.S. as we pursue and hope to quickly establish the level of market share currently enjoyed by Corgi's U.K. division."
