CoolCast's Versatility, Power Showcased

Using Alcatel's DSLAM Technology

Alcatel (NYSE: ALA), the world leader in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solutions, and DG Systems' (NASDAQ: DGIT) CoolCast, an Internet broadcaster, today announced that attendees of the April 23 - 26 NAB Conference in Las Vegas will be able to interact with the CoolCast Internet broadcasting portal through televisions, desktop PCs, and wireless laptop applications at booth #L241.

In December 2000, Alcatel and CoolCast entered into an agreement that bundles CoolCast technology with Alcatel's award-winning DSL access platform, the 7300 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM). A first for the telecommunications industry, this agreement enables DSL service providers to deliver broadcast-quality video, CD-quality audio, and Internet connectivity to broadband consumers.

CoolCast's innovative broadcast technology, enabled by Alcatel's broadband access architecture, allows select broadband PC users, and TV viewers with a set-top box, to access join-in-progress streaming video, stored video and CD-quality streaming audio while multi-tasking with other Web-based or local applications.

Together with Alcatel's DSL access equipment, the patented CoolCast broadcast technology offers DSL service providers a powerful solution for multi-media delivery that bypasses the Internet. CoolCast distributes media via a satellite network that beams data to receivers located close to a telecommunications provider's central office. This data is then aggregated in the Alcatel 7300 ASAM and efficiently streamed into the home or office via DSL. By employing this satellite-coupled DSL technology, service providers avoid the unpredictable performance of the Internet. This innovative technology offers service providers unique branding and incremental revenue generation potential via linkages between streaming media and Internet access services, ushering in the era of interactive video.

Alcatel and CoolCast invite you to visit their booth, located in spot L241. One-on-one appointments and technology demonstrations are available upon request.
