MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001

Ubicom, Inc., a leader in providing Internet Processors and networking software that enable ubiquitous communication, today announced that Glenn R. Schuster has joined the company as Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Business Development. Schuster, 35, has more than 17 years of high-technology experience, encompassing strategic and product marketing management, as well as applications, design and software engineering. In his newly created position, he will be responsible for analyzing and selecting target markets, developing strategies and defining products for addressing those markets, and forming strategic relationships that will allow Ubicom to offer complete end-to-end device networking solutions.

"We're very pleased that Glenn has decided to bring his extensive experience and versatility to our senior management team," said Bulent Celebi, Ubicom's President and CEO. "While we've had more than a hundred design wins with our current product lines, the device networking market is still very young and is growing in a variety of directions. Our challenge is to identify the `killer applications' for the various segments within that market, define the products and strategies to implement the applications, and then pull together complete end-to-end solutions with such partners as server software vendors to make the applications successful. Glenn and his team will be responsible for all of that activity, and he has the ideal background to make it happen."

"I'm very excited to be joining a company with such a strong vision of what the Internet is going to become, and I'm looking forward to helping it achieve more than its fair share of the market," Schuster said. "Ubicom's unique combination of powerful processors and tightly coupled pre-built software modules places it in the forefront of companies with truly enabling technology, and it's going to be a pleasure helping identify opportunities to spread that technology."

Prior to joining Ubicom, Schuster was Vice President, Strategic Marketing, at 3DFX, Inc., having previously been Director of Marketing for Chip Set Products at ATI Technologies, Inc. Before that, he was with S3, Inc., for 6 years, most recently serving as Director of Marketing, Desktop Graphics. His experience also includes service in design and applications engineering in the i860 Group at Intel Corp., and design and software engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.

Schuster holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
