ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2001

Knowledge@Emory Delivers Business Research, Analysis, and Commentary

The Goizueta Business School of Emory University and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announced today the launch of a collaborative, web-based publication called Knowledge@Emory, accessible at www.knowledge.emory.edu.

Corporate partners funding the initiative include KPMG, Siemens, The Coca-Cola Company and Financial Times.

The free, bi-weekly online resource features in-depth articles on current events and business trends and insights with original research, analyses and commentary from Goizueta Business School and Emory faculty. The site will include interviews with industry leaders, articles based on recent business research, book reviews, conference and seminar reports, links to other web sites and a searchable database of business research.

University officials previewed the site at a reception today at the Goizueta Business School in Atlanta.

Knowledge@Emory has 14 topic categories, including Finance and Investments, Leadership and Change, Managing Technology, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The web site format allows readers to view full articles or excerpts with hyperlinks to additional data sources.

"This is a knowledge economy, so business leaders and professionals need access to leading edge thinking and new ideas," said Maryam Alavi, director, Knowledge@Emory, and the John M. and Lucy Cook Chair of Information Strategy at Goizueta Business School.

Knowledge@Emory is a collaborative effort between Emory University and Knowledge@Wharton, which launched earlier. By combining resources, the two schools provide a larger pool of intellectual assets to the users of both. Emory will market the site actively to its alumni and to the business community at large, while Knowledge@Wharton will provide technical, editorial, and administrative support for the site.

"The opportunity to partner with Wharton and showcase our faculty's research and new thinking made this a good business decision for Goizueta," said Dean Thomas S. Robertson of the Goizueta Business School.

"The response we continue to receive for Knowledge@Wharton clearly indicates that business leaders want the knowledge behind the news. Expanding our reach by partnering with Goizueta is an extension of that service and will benefit the users of both sites," says Robert Mittelstaedt, vice dean and director of Wharton Executive Education.

"Executives and professionals are faced with a litany of diverse problems with ever changing dynamics. Their ability to respond quickly and effectively to these issues, makes Knowledge@Emory the perfect educational tool that they can access 24-hours a day," Alavi said.

Corporate sponsors will help fund the initiative. In addition to Siemens, KPMG, Financial Times, and Coca-Cola, Goizueta is discussing sponsorship with a select number of other companies with which it has a strong relationship.
