Celebrate the release and chart debut of "Queer As Folk Music from the Original Soundtrack" on RCA Victor with six of the stars from the hit Showtime series. Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, Scott Lowell, Randy Harrison, Thea Gill and Michelle Clunie will be autographing copies of the new CD on Friday April 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the Virgin Megastore on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Released on April 17, the soundtrack entered the Billboard Top 200 out of the box this week at no.168. In the April 21 edition, Billboard predicted that "Queer As Folk Music from the Original Soundtrack," "could turn out to be one of the most successful TV soundtracks of recent years." The trade publication went on to say, "Those looking for a great dance compilation will like this release whether or not they are fans of the show. . . . [They] will have a great party soundtrack at their disposal."

A pumping, grinding dance soundtrack, "Queer As Folk Music from the Original Soundtrack" features some of the hottest names in dance music from the U.S., Canada and Europe, including tracks by Kristine W, Love Inc., Antiloop and Alcazar. On the show, the characters dance to the music at their favorite club, Babylon, and listen to it at home. Among the hits featured on "Queer As Folk Music from the Original Soundtrack" is "Dive In The Pool," by Barry Harris featuring Pepper Mashay, Kristine W"s no.1 Billboard dance hit, "Lovin' You," and Katty B's energized cover version of Denise Williams' hit from Footloose, "Let's Hear It For The Boy."

Half of the 14 tracks on "Queer As Folk Music from the Original Soundtrack" are being released in the U.S. for the first time. They include Alcazar's "Cryin' At The Discoteque;" Full Frontal's adaptation of Divine's 1984 dance classic, "You Think You're A Man;" "Proud" from the debut solo album by Heather Small, former lead singer of M People; "Start Rockin'" by Antiloop; "Do Ya (Feel the Love)" from the Canadian dance duo Love, Inc.'s Juno Award-winning album; and Carole Pope's lyrically-adapted re-make of her hit with Rough Trade, "High School Confidential"

Based on a British TV series, Queer As Folk made its U.S. debut with a two-hour pilot on December 3, 2000 in which the opening line was, "The thing you need to know is, it's all about sex." The first 22 episodes are currently airing with the last three episodes of the season airing June 10, 17 and 24.
