PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--APRIL 30, 2001

Interliant, Inc. (Nasdaq:INIT), a leading global application service provider (ASP), today announced the immediate availability of its INIT Managed Messaging for Exchange solution. Powered by Microsoft .NET technologies, this dedicated-server solution teams the full functionality of Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Microsoft Outlook 2000 Server with the quick deployment, predictable per-user cost, and reliable delivery of an Interliant-hosted solution.

The INIT Managed Messaging for Exchange solution enables Interliant customers to gain cutting-edge messaging and collaboration functionality quicker, more efficiently, and less expensively than with an in-house implementation. A fully managed, turnkey solution, Interliant's Exchange service reduces the total cost of ownership and shortens the lengthy build, test, and rollout phases associated with in-house implementations. Customers also benefit from Interliant's expertise and time-proven best practices gained from seven years of hosting messaging and collaboration platforms. In addition, Interliant ensures the privacy and integrity of customers' mission-critical applications and data with robust security procedures and infrastructure. Delivered from Interliant's world-class, globally distributed data centers, the service includes all hardware, application and network monitoring and reporting, backup and disaster recovery, and 24x7x365 customer support.

INIT Managed Messaging for Exchange is available in three deployment offerings: Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise. Each deployment option provides flexibility and allows companies to easily and quickly scale the service to meet their growing needs. Standard deployment is based on a 99.5% uptime Service Level Agreement (SLA) for companies with 300 to 2,000 users. For companies with more robust needs and more than 2,000 users, the Advanced solution employs Front End/Back End server clustering to achieve a 99.9% uptime. Enterprise deployments include customized solutions with add-on services such as unified messaging or a custom designed Digital Dashboard. All deployments offer full Outlook 2000 and Outlook Web Access (OWA) clients linking to customer-dedicated servers.

"By utilizing Exchange's reliable, cost-efficient and flexible features, Interliant's new offering provides its customers with a terrific solution that is fully managed, fast to implement and hosted in its state-of-the-art, global data centers," said Mark Chestnut, General Manager, U.S. Network Service Providers, Microsoft Corp.

"With this addition to its range of managed messaging services, Interliant rounds out its enterprise-level messaging offerings with the latest in Microsoft technology," said Dr. Sara Radicati, president and CEO of The Radicati Group, Inc., an independent consulting and market research firm. "As a leader in the rapidly growing managed messaging market, we believe Interliant is well positioned to gain additional market share via this new offering." According to a recent Radicati Group report, the managed messaging market is predicted to grow to $6.63 billion by 2004.

"Today's announcement demonstrates Interliant's ability to take best-in-class software and combine it with solid engineering and established best business practices to deliver a world class service," said Patty Jacobson, Interliant's vice president for Managed Messaging. "We offer companies the benefits of Microsoft Exchange 2000 reliability, scalability, and security, while allowing them to focus on their core business instead of the technical messaging and collaboration infrastructure."

Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Microsoft's messaging and collaboration platform, provides powerful opportunities for communication and knowledge sharing. This highly secure, reliable platform is designed to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes, from small organizations to large distributed enterprises.
