Digital Media Outlook Conference

CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2001

Equator Chosen Along With Ten Other Leading Digital Media

as 'Most Likely to Succeed'

Equator(TM) Technologies Inc., the leading provider of comprehensive broadband digital communications and media processing infrastructure for the consumer technology market, announced today it was selected by Technologic Partners as one of ten private digital media companies that are most likely to succeed. The announcement was made this week in New York at the Digital Media Outlook conference. The selections were chosen by an audience of about 300 leading investment and industry professionals, and the ten winners were selected from among the invited companies whose CEOs presented their business plans.

"At Equator, we strive to offer the world's most innovative solutions for the broadband consumer electronic appliance market. We're very excited that our MAP-CA Broadband Signal Processor (BSP(TM)) platform has been recognized by such a renowned group of investors, as those present at this week's Digital Media Outlook Conference," said Dr. Avi Katz, Equator President and CEO. "This award confirms that Equator's strong core technology that has been recognized by our 100 customers and our recent funding is very well positioned for continued growth and success."

In addition to voting by the Digital Media Outlook audience, selection for the Investors' Choice award was based on recommendations from a panel of distinguished investors, which included Bill Frezza, general partner at Adams Capital Management; Doug Barry, general partner at Selby Venture Partners; John Corcoran, Internet/Digital New Media analyst at CIBC World Markets; and Lou Mazzucchelli, senior vice president at Gerard Klauer Mattison.

Equator's MAP-CA(TM) family of Broadband Signal Processors (BSP(TM)) were developed from the ground up with software in mind, offering customizable, flexible solutions that allow the broadband marketplace to keep pace with the latest technology developments. At the core of MAP-CA is a highly integrated, single chip solution, designed for high-performance, video-intense broadband applications ranging from Internet video devices to stand alone Set Top Boxes to transcoders in digital head-ends and professional video equipment. By delivering core functions through software rather than dedicated hardware, MAP-CA enables developers to rapidly build multi-function products and update features even after products are launched and in the field. As a result, MAP-CA extends product life cycles and reduces truck rolls, improving time to revenue for broadband consumer electronic appliance manufacturers.
