Wind River Authors Definitive Guide on Software Concepts for Embedded Systems

Wind River Systems (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today announced that it is authoring the definitive guide to embedded concepts and principles. The book takes an in-depth look at this burgeoning market and provides a thorough explanation of important issues impacting the development of many of the most interesting products being developed today.
The book, to be called "Software Concepts for Embedded Systems: Including Examples Using Tornado(R) and VxWorks(R)," published by Addison-Wesley's Professional division, is slated for general release at bookstores in Fall 2001. It will include a balance of embedded theory and concepts, as well as proven methodologies for embedded real-time applications, augmented with practical exercises and examples. It will also contain a software CD of the Tornado Prototyper, for cross-development of embedded systems, enabling readers to work through the examples with Tornado integrated development environment and VxWorks real-time operating system simulator.
Excerpts from the book will be available at the Wind River booth (1102) at the Embedded Systems Conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, April 10-12, 2001. Reviewed by an array of engineers and industry experts, the book is designed to reach a wide range of embedded systems developers and will include a foreword written by Jerry Fiddler, co-founder and chairman of Wind River, who has been described as "the father of embedded technology."
