Reinforces Commitment to Open Standards;

Announces Plans to Extend Current XML-based Web Services Platform

SilverStream Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:SSSW), today announced its support of Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) and Electronic Business XML (ebXML), extending the Company's leadership role in key industry initiatives surrounding Web Services and business interoperability. The announcement also underscores SilverStream's support of open standards, providing customers with comprehensive solutions for integrating their enterprises with all forms of Web-based computing.

Today, SilverStream's customers are able to leverage Web Services using the Company's eBusiness products, assembling Web Services components from new and existing enterprise systems. With support of the UDDI and ebXML standards, SilverStream solutions will also enable customers to publish Web Services to external business registries, find the Web Services that have been published by others, and rapidly forge advanced, Web-based business relationships.

"The UDDI Project will create a registry for vendors to describe themselves and how they approach e-commerce transactions. Such registries are a prerequisite for turning e-business software into Web services," stated Daryl Plummer, group vice president at Gartner Inc.

"As one of the first companies to both recognize the potential of open standards for eBusiness and provide a platform that enables the creation of XML-based Web Services, SilverStream is in a good position to satisfy the growing demand for Web Services solutions," said Arny Epstein, CTO, SilverStream Software. "Our participation in the UDDI and ebXML initiatives is exemplary of our intention to become a premier enabler of Web Services, advancing eBusiness to new levels of ease-of-use and scalability. The addition of these standards to our existing technology will be a natural extension of our offering, and we're dedicated to acting as partner to companies of all sizes looking to collaborate, communicate and conduct business more effectively on the Web."
