BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2001
Actioneer, Inc. today announced the availability of Actioneer Pro(R) 4.0 for Lotus Notes(R), intelligent agent software that enables Notes users to quickly fetch information from, or deposit information into, Lotus Notes databases.
This new database access feature answers an increasing need for enterprise users like customer service and sales personnel to gain easy access to information residing in Notes databases.
Actioneer eliminates much of the time-consuming point and click navigation usually needed to access Lotus Notes or the Web. Keywords contained in action messages entered into Actioneer's capture window trigger software "connectors" that launch intelligent agents which drill down into Notes or within Web sites to complete desired actions for the user.
The new Actioneer product can be customized to access specific Notes databases, improving the accessibility and ease of use of Notes. Custom connectors to access Notes databases are typically created not by end users but by IT managers or Actioneer's Value Added Resellers. To facilitate the creation of custom connectors, Actioneer Pro includes two demonstration databases and four configurable software connectors, three for executing database queries (searches) and one for depositing information. The new Pro product also contains standard connectors for quickly searching the address book and personal journal files of the Notes mail database.
"Actioneer helps Notes users get more done in less time. By making users more productive, it increases the return on investment in Notes for enterprise customers," said Tom Hagan, president and chief executive officer. "And Actioneer can add significant value to the offerings of Notes consultants, value-added Notes resellers, and the suppliers of Notes-based software products."
Actioneer Pro for Lotus Notes runs on Microsoft Windows and NT platforms. It builds on the popular Basic version of Actioneer that has been bundled by Lotus Development Corporation with Notes R5 since March 1999. With Actioneer Pro, the Notes user can quickly access Notes databases, create new calendar, task, contact and journal entries, view existing records in these files, and create e-mail messages, all even if the Notes application is not open. Actioneer Pro also has a powerful Web access feature that speeds the flow of information to and from popular Web sites, making it possible, for example, to check a FedEx shipment or fetch a city map simply by entering an Actioneer action message including the appropriate keyword, such as "fedex," along with the air bill number to be tracked, or "map," along with city name or zip code.
Actioneer Pro is fully configurable, allowing end users to create their own keywords and choose from a catalog of connectors to popular Web services. The introductory price of Actioneer Pro for Lotus Notes is $60.
In addition to Lotus Notes, Actioneer products are available for Microsoft Outlook, Palm Desktop and Palm handheld organizers. The company plans to support additional hardware and software platforms, including the RIM BlackBerry and other mobile devices with Internet access.
"The versatility of our agent technology makes Actioneer a natural front-end for a broad range of Note-based enterprise applications," said Matthew Austin, Actioneer's vice president for sales and marketing. "Actioneer Pro for Lotus Notes provides Notes users quick, easy access to digital resources, and we intend to further expand that capability for users on and off the corporate network."
Actioneer, Inc. offers products and services to save time and get things done more easily. The company has been granted two patents for its award-winning technology, which uses intelligent agents to speed access to digital resources.
Over the past two years, Actioneer has been consistently featured as a top-rated solution for Palm and Windows platforms by PC/Computing (now Smart Business), Fast Company, Fortune, ZDNet and others. Red Herring and Upside Magazine have listed Actioneer as one of the top private Internet companies. Computer World chose Actioneer as one of its "100 hot emerging companies." Actioneer has offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Francisco.
