DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2001
Interphase Corporation (Nasdaq:INPH), an international supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today announced the inclusion of a standardized application programming interface (API) to its Fibre Channel PowerSAN(TM) software device drivers.
The API is being showcased in demonstrations with Vixel Corporation and SANavigator, Inc. at the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Spring 2001 Storage Networking World (SNW) Conference and Expo from April 9-11 in Palm Desert, California.
Interphase has been a contributing member of SNIA and the committee to develop the API specifications that will supply vendors with enhanced compatibility and system developers with easier integration when working with multiple vendors. The Spring 2001 SNW Conference will be the first public demonstration of the interface and will provide examples on how to use storage networking technologies including Interphase's PowerSAN host bus adapters that enable the management, archiving and retrieving of electronic messages.
"We are proud to be members and contributors to SNIA's API specifications and feel that interoperability is key for the Fibre Channel SAN industry," said Vice President and General Manager of Interphase's Server I/O Products Group, David Helffrich. "Our inclusion of the API and our participation in the Spring 2001 SNW Conference is another example of our commitment to continue providing the most innovative, highly reliably, quality products to the market."
The SNW interoperability demonstration will focus on seven themes including scalable, SAN backup, data storage utility/SSP, education/experts, emerging technologies, high volume applications, SAN internetworking and an overview of storage network management.
"The SNW interoperability lab and demo enables customers to view how storage networking equipment and applications from multiple vendors can work together in an enterprise environment," said SNIA Interoperability Committee Co-chairman, Tom Clark. "This spring's demo will provide examples of how companies can use storage networking technologies to cope with the demands of managing, archiving and retrieving electronic messages."
