Applix Names Emily Porter Vice President of Marketing Communications; New Executive Brings +15 Years Experience of Brand Strategy and Communications

Applix, Inc. (NASDAQ:APLX), a global provider of customer analytics and business planning software, today announced the appointment of Emily Porter to the position of Vice President of Marketing Communications. In this newly created role, Ms. Porter is responsible for corporate branding, advertising, marketing communications, public and analyst relations and investor communications. Ms. Porter reports directly to Applix President and CEO Alan Goldsworthy.

Ms. Porter brings to Applix more than 15 years experience in marketing and communications. Most recently, she was Vice President of Marketing for Refer.com, Inc., a category-defining job referral service, where she was responsible for branding, advertising, marketing, public relations and website design. Previously, Ms. Porter was Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications for American Express Company, Inc., where she managed communications and promotions for American Express Consumer Card, Merchant Services, Advertising, Interactive Services and Worldwide Travel. Prior to joining American Express, Ms. Porter held critical roles in public relations and marketing communications in the travel and manufacturing industries.
