In the report prepared by Gartner Inc. Vice President and Research Director Gene Phifer and available at http://www.gartner.com/reprints/sap/99677.html, SAP Portals is listed as the leader of the quadrant in the portal product market due to the combination of visionary technology and the strong financial backing and customer base of SAP.
