EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 2001

EasyLink Services Corporation (NASDAQ: EASY), a leading global provider of outsourced messaging services to enterprises and service providers, announced today that it has launched version 4.0 of its MailWatch Service, its outsourced anti-virus, spam, and content filtering solution.

A highly developed solution, MailWatch 4.0 delivers increased throughput and scalability to cost effectively address customer growth. EasyLink MailWatch 4.0 also integrates industry-leading anti-virus software from McAfee, a division of Network Associates (NASDAQ: NETA), to stop known viruses and malicious codes from entering enterprise networks via e-mail. For example, MailWatch has already intercepted over 200,000 instances of the current "Sircam" virus since its initial outbreak on July 19. Using EasyLink's own software technology, MailWatch also filters offensive e-mail material, blocks unwanted spam and "junk e-mail," controls oversized attachments and protects against denial of service attacks that can interrupt productivity.

With MailWatch now handling approximately 2,000,000 customer messages per day - nearly double the customer volume at the beginning of the year - a critical EasyLink business objective was to improve platform efficiency, thus reducing the company's overall message processing costs. MailWatch 4.0 achieves this objective with a 100% throughput improvement. The platform can now handle twice the amount of message volume for its hardware investments.

Brad Schrader, President of EasyLink Services, commented, "We have taken our leadership in this market to the next level with MailWatch 4.0. A year ago the market was more about getting the feature set down and missionary selling to early customers. With this under our belts, we have been able to shift our emphasis to efficiently and profitably scaling the business."

"McAfee was pleased to meet EasyLink's requirements for a rigorous anti-virus component of their highly scalable boundary service," said Arvind Narain, Senior Vice President of Internet Product and Service Delivery for McAfee. "The high performance scanning capabilities in the McAfee technology protects users from the latest viruses while maintaining increased productivity."
