Cubic Appoints New Military Advisor

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2001
LTG (USA Ret) William M. (Mike) Steele has been named Senior Military Advisor to Cubic Applications Inc. and Cubic Defense Systems, subsidiaries of San Diego-based Cubic Corp. (AMEX:CUB).
Cubic Applications and Cubic Defense Systems are the two largest units of Cubic's Defense Group, together providing live and simulation-based training systems and support, doctrine and leader development, communications and other electronic products to U.S. forces and other allied nations.
Steele recently retired as Commanding General, United States Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., after 34 years of active military service. He comes to Cubic with a strong background in operations and training in the U.S. Army and in a joint headquarters. He will apply his extensive senior level military experience in support of training, instrumentation, education and doctrine requirements at Cubic.
Steele has command and staff experience from platoon through Assistant Division Commander of the 8th Infantry Division (mechanized) and as Division Commander of the 82nd Airborne Division. He also served as the Commanding General, U.S. Army Pacific. His combat background includes experience in Vietnam as a Ranger battalion and Ranger group advisor. He has 12 years experience in the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at the U.S. Infantry School, Headquarters TRADOC and at Fort Leavenworth, where he served as Deputy Commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center. Steele's joint experience includes an assignment as the Director of Operations, J-3 U.S. Atlantic Command. Steele holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from The Citadel and a master's degree in management from Webster University. He is also a graduate of the National War College.
