David Honig To Receive Mickey Leland Award During

September 10-12 NAMIC Conference in New York City

NAMIC today announced human rights advocate Martin Luther King III, Author, Speaker, and Agent of Change Seth Godin, and Vice President and Director of the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Center for Business Innovation's Christopher Meyer will be keynote speakers at The 15th Annual NAMIC Conference: Digital Media & Diversity on September 10-12, 2001, at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City.

Martin Luther King III will be featured at "The Wisdom of Dreams" screening on Tuesday, September 11 at Millennium Broadway's Hudson Theater at 7:00 p.m. The program, part of a cable series King will host on WISDOM Television this fall, presents stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things to enrich their lives and the lives of others. A highlight of the evening will be an appearance by Ron Heagy, Founder of Camp Attitude, who will be profiled. King is currently the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the organization his father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., co-founded.

Seth Godin will speak about his best-selling book Permission Marketing during a keynote address on Wednesday, September 12 from 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Permission Marketing received rave reviews, including Fortune Magazine naming it as one their Best Business Books. Godin's latest book Unleashing the Ideavirus, was first distributed in a digital version before being released as a book in major bookstores.

Christopher Meyer will talk about "Making Dollars and Sense With the Census Data" during his keynote address on Tuesday, September 11 from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. In his current position with Ersnt & Young, Meyer is responsible for establishing the Center for Business Innovation's research agenda. The Center identifies issues that will challenge businesses in the future and defines the appropriate responses. He is the co-author of two books dealing with the economy and wealth.

Also during the NAMIC Conference, David Honig, Esq., Co-founder and Executive Director of the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council, will be honored when he receives the Mickey Leland Humanitarian Achievement Award on Tuesday, September 11 at an Awards Luncheon from 1:00 -2:30 p.m. Honig's Council represents 40 minority and civil rights organizations before the FCC and appellate courts.

Also during the luncheon, NAMIC Excellence Awards will be given in recognition of operators and programmers who have demonstrated foresight in developing ethnic-targeted marketing and public relations strategies.

Other NAMIC Conference highlights include: The closing session -- "Content is King" on Wednesday, September 12 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. where key Hollywood and industry executives will share success stories in producing diverse programming for mainstream audiences; a Career Fair on Tuesday, September 11 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.; a CEO Roundtable, Diversity Roundtables, Master Courses, and track sessions on Marketing and Product Content, New Media and Content Delivery, and Diversity Development.

The Conference, "Digital Media & Diversity," is held over a three-day period and is targeted to marketing, human resources and operations personnel as well as programming content providers in the telecommunications industry.
