2 GHz Processor In Customer Hands
Dell (Nasdaq:DELL), known for the efficiency of its direct business model in bringing technology improvements to customers as quickly as possible, today announced worldwide availability of desktop systems and workstations with newly announced processors running at up to 2 GHz -- the highest performance level in the industry.
Dell, with its record-low four days of inventory, is putting Intel's 2GHz Pentium 4 processor into a wide array of configurations for Dell's Precision(tm) workstations and Dimension(tm) and OptiPlex(tm) desktop systems at aggressive price points. Intel designed the Pentium 4 processor to provide a substantial boost for multimedia and Internet-centric applications and multitasking.

Pricing in the United States for the entry-level Dell Precision Workstation 330 with the 2 GHz processor begins at $1,697(a). A sample performance configuration includes a single Pentium 4 processor at 2 GHz, mini-tower chassis, 18GB(b) SCSI hard disk drive, 512MB PC800 RDRAM(R), NVIDIA(R) Quadro2 Pro graphics card and 16X CD-RW for $2,805(a).
