Compaq Ships One-Gigahertz Notebook With Conexant's Mini-PCI Solution

to Major Retail Outlets

(NYSE:CPQ) has selected Conexant's V.90/local area network (LAN) combination communications solution for its Presario 1200 Series, one-gigahertz notebook computer, available now in major retail outlets.

Based on the mini-peripheral component interconnect (mini-PCI) form factor, Conexant's solution combines V.90 modem and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connectivity on a single card, enabling manufacturers to reduce their bill-of-materials component count and overall cost.

In addition, Conexant's mini-PCI solution provides manufacturers with an easy means of integrating modem, LAN and broadband connectivity into notebook designs, which facilitates the timely introduction of new products with enhanced functionality.
