FRANKFURT, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2001
With a new monthly passenger record and increased flight punctuality at Frankfurt Airport (airport code = FRA), Fraport AG -- the owner and manager of FRA -- has again scored positive points in its ongoing drive to make Germany's largest airport even more attractive for travelers.
In July 2001, FRA recorded its busiest month in the airport's history when it welcomed some 4.9 million passengers. This figure represents 2.7 percent more passengers than in July 2000. During the same time, only 21 percent of the total 41,000 departing and arriving flights at FRA were delayed, versus 28 percent for the same period last year. This positive trend is continuing through the current month of August. To date, only about 18 percent of FRA's flights have been late: with over half of these delays within the 16-to-30 minute time window.
"We intend to maintain our top position as Europe's most punctual hub airport in 2001," said Dr. Wilhelm Bender, Executive Board Chairman of Fraport AG. According to international regulations, a flight is considered delayed when the actual arrival or departure time deviates by more than 15 minutes from the original scheduled time.
