ArcSoft Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging software and Internet networks to global businesses, today announced that it is providing network services, content and support for NikonNet, Nikon's online destination. ArcSoft's support for NikonNet, a complete photo-sharing community for photo enthusiasts, marks the continued growth of the ArcSoft Internet services business, as well as an expansion of the company's relationship with Nikon. ArcSoft also supplies Nikon with imaging software that is bundled with Nikon consumer digital cameras in North America.
"Our goal was to provide an online presence for NikonNet that reflected our company's continuing commitment to imaging excellence," said Jerry Grossman, vice president of Internet development for Nikon Inc. "We chose ArcSoft because of the company's years of experience in consumer imaging software and its proven ability to customize high quality, easy-to-use photo-sharing Web sites."
NikonNet allows its members to edit, enhance, archive and share their photos with friends and family around the world. In addition, customers can visit the Nikon Centre portion of the site, where they can find inspiration and ideas from portfolios of distinguished photographers and learn photographic techniques from celebrated professionals. Users also have access to the latest imaging news and reviews and can download new Nikon software directly from the site.
ArcSoft provides NikonNet with a complete network infrastructure that incorporates ArcSoft's Advanced Imaging Operating System (AIOS) technology. This server-side middleware includes software for multimedia document management, processing and distribution as well as client-side software applications. The result is an online imaging system that allows multimedia documents to be viewed, processed and uploaded to servers from smart phones, handheld devices, Internet appliances and personal computers.
"Nikon's selection of ArcSoft is further proof of our leadership position in this growing segment of the market," said Chris Bethell, director of marketing for ArcSoft. "We are continuing to leverage our expertise with award-winning photo-manipulation software to provide customized Internet services to Fortune 1000 image-centric enterprises.
