Empirix Inc., the leading provider of test and monitoring solutions for business-critical Web, voice and network applications, today announced the appointment of Cynthia M. Deysher to its Board of Directors. Deysher's high profile in the technology field has been built on a fast-track career in financial and operations management. Her extensive professional credentials include successes as vice president and chief financial officer for both Arrowpoint Communications and Shiva Corporation.

"Cynthia Deysher is a highly respected and accomplished professional with considerable knowledge of finance and management issues in technology startups," said Empirix Chairman Alex d'Arbeloff. "All of us on the Board recognize the tremendous skill and insight she brings to the company, and we have no doubt that she will play a valuable role in helping Empirix succeed as a provider of test products and services for Web sites, contact centers and telecommunications networks."

Created at the end of 2000 by combining Hammer Technologies and RSW Software (both former Teradyne subsidiaries), Empirix is an independent, privately funded corporation that provides test and monitoring solutions to a wide range of Global 2000 companies, including Cisco, Lucent, British Telecom, American Airlines, and H&R Block. The company's financial backers include Teradyne and the venture capital firm of Matrix Partners. Matrix General Partners Paul Ferri, Timothy Barrows and David Skok (founder and former chairman of business software developer SilverStream) serve on the Empirix Board. Other members include Professor John Guttag, head of MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as consultants James Prestridge and Owen Robbins, and Empirix President Jeff Hotchkiss.

"Empirix is a proven performer with exceptional leadership," said Deysher. "They have a terrific record for producing innovative voice and Web testing solutions, and are the natural leaders in test and monitoring for converged communications systems and next-generation networks. They're on a path to genuine success. That's a path I'm familiar with, and I'm looking forward to helping them shape their strategy and reach their long-term goals," Deysher said.

A CPA with degrees from Bentley College and the University of Rhode Island, Deysher is currently president of Deysher Advisory Services, a consultancy that assists startup companies. She also serves on the Bentley College Board of Trustees and on the Advisory Boards of Narad Networks and BinOptics.
