MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 2001

Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU) today announced a new seminar series for third-party developers interested in integrating their applications with QuickBooks(R). QuickBooks is Intuit's leading small business accounting and business management solution with a customer base of nearly three million small businesses.

The one-day seminars will be held in 10 major cities across the United States during September and October, including Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, and Intuit's headquarters of Mountain View, California. For a complete list of cities where the QuickBooks Developer Seminar will be held, please visit http://developer.intuit.com/quickbooks/seminar.asp. Further information on the seminars and an online registration form is also available on the Web site.

Each seminar is intended to provide interested developers and software engineers with a comprehensive overview of the QuickBooks API, hands-on assistance with coding, and other necessary tools and information needed to get a head start on integrating their general and industry-specific applications with QuickBooks Pro 2002.

Participating developers will have the opportunity to meet with Intuit engineers and members of the QuickBooks Software Development Kit (SDK) team to discuss methods of integration offered through the Intuit Developer Network. All participants will receive a pre-release copy of the QuickBooks SDK, sample code and a pre-release beta copy of QuickBooks Pro 2002.

Developers interested in participating in one of the QuickBooks Developer Seminars must first register to become a member of the Intuit Developer Network. Annual membership is $1,000. Seminar participation is limited to paying members of the Intuit Developer Network. Members of the Intuit Developer Network may choose to bring fellow employees from their company to the seminar for an additional $495 per person. Space is limited and participation in the conference is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Developers Can Meet Growing Demand for Integrated Solutions

"QuickBooks users come from a vast array of industries, each with their own specific need," said Esther Kruijver, director of the Intuit Developer Network. "Knowing this, it's not surprising that 80 percent of QuickBooks users are interested in having QuickBooks integrate with other software applications and devices(1). This presents an opportunity for developers to create and adapt applications to integrate with QuickBooks, which will ultimately help small businesses overcome the hassle of entering data twice."

The Intuit Developer Network currently has over 3,500 registered developers. The developers, together with Intuit, will deliver the next generation of functionality and data integration that help small businesses run their businesses more efficiently. Intuit Developer Network members provide a large variety of industry specific solutions such as construction/contracting, retail and professional services, and an array of general applications including time & billing, customer relationship management (CRM), and shipping.

In December, when the next version of QuickBooks is released, dozens of third-party applications that integrate with QuickBooks Pro 2002 will be available.
