3Dlabs Intends to Ship OpenML Drivers on Wildcat; 3Dlabs Investing

Significant Resources and Effort to Drive Khronos Initiatives

3Dlabs(R), Inc. Ltd. (Nasdaq:TDDD) confirmed its strong support for the new OpenML(TM) 1.0 specification, released by the Khronos Special Interest Group today, by announcing that it expects to ship OpenML drivers for its market-leading Wildcat(TM) professional graphics accelerators within an aggressive two quarters of the specification being finalized. In-depth support for OpenML will make the Wildcat family one of the most advanced accelerators available for dynamic media authoring and will further widen the differentiation between true professional graphics accelerators and competitive boards based on gaming technology.

OpenML is a complementary software environment to the OpenGL(R) API and provides multi-platform capabilities for capturing, processing, synchronizing and playing digital media. OpenML drivers are expected to add considerable value to 3Dlabs professional end-users by enabling the seamless integration and acceleration of video and 3D media streams on advanced OpenGL hardware, such as Wildcat graphics accelerators. The Wildcat family is an ideal platform for supporting OpenML due to its robust OpenGL support, including fully accelerated image processing functionality.

3Dlabs continues to play a key role within the Khronos Group. 3Dlabs' Randi Rost leads the OpenGL extensions group for OpenML. Additionally, 3Dlabs' Neil Trevett was elected to the role of Khronos Group Secretary at the last Khronos meeting in July. 3Dlabs is also the driving force behind the Khronos Group's latest initiative to define small-footprint, OpenGL and OpenML-based graphics APIs to bring dynamic media capabilities to a wide variety of appliances and embedded devices.

"3Dlabs is a strong supporter of the Khronos Group because we firmly believe in the power of open standards to create and grow markets, and Khronos is the right group at the right time to deliver powerful and timely specifications," said Neil Trevett, senior vice president of market development at 3Dlabs and secretary of the Khronos Group. "OpenML on Wildcat will focus the power of advanced graphics hardware on accelerating the dynamic media and video authoring workflow for the first time. 3Dlabs users working with media authoring applications will enjoy significantly enhanced benefit from their Wildcat hardware."
