Who/What: Volunteers from Hewitt Associates will individually
tutor sixth grade students from Orlando's Union Park Middle
School using "Time to Read," a nationwide volunteer literacy
program. Hewitt is the first organization to introduce Time to
Read in Central Florida

Central Florida Research Park, near the University of
Central Florida
Why: As part of its effort to make a positive difference in local
communities, Hewitt Associates, a global management consulting
and outsourcing firm, encourages associates to participate in
its volunteer program. Focusing on human services and
education programs, Hewitt provides up to two paid days per
year for volunteer activities. In addition to Orlando, Hewitt
sponsors Time to Read activities in its Atlanta and
Lincolnshire, Ill. offices.
AOL/Time Warner's Time to Read program started in 1985 to
address the crisis of low levels of literacy among American
children and adults. With trained tutors, the program promotes
the improvement of literacy skills by making reading
interesting, enjoyable and relevant to the learner's life.
