New Performance Pack Module Enables 2-4 X Security Performance
Increase on Industry Standard Servers and Appliances
Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today introduced Check Point VPN-1(R)/FireWall-1(R) XL(TM), a new software module that accelerates the performance of the company's security products by a factor of 2-4 times.
For example, standard PC servers (such as Compaq ProLiant(TM) ML530 or IBM xSeries 340) that previously achieved 500 Mbps of measured security performance now perform at 1.7 Gbps. Performance can further be scaled by the recently announced ClusterXL solutions.
The unprecedented software acceleration technology of VPN/FireWall-1 XL is based on the Next Generation Performance Pack module, a software-based security accelerator that enables unsurpassed performance on a broad range of open platforms and "Secured by Check Point" appliances. The Next Generation Performance Pack module maximizes network-processing by utilizing the latest technologies in network and packet processing to increase VPN/firewall and overall network traffic throughput. Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 XL Performance Pack is based on the company's previously announced SecureXL Framework for security performance.
The Next Generation Performance Pack is available immediately at an introductory price of $6000 in the U.S.
"Check Point offers its customers the broadest range of platforms and performance options," said Carol Stone, vice president of worldwide marketing for Check Point Software. "VPN-1/FireWall-1 XL demonstrates Check Point's commitment to deliver the flexibility and price/performance needed for today's corporate environments."
