World Products and Atomic Software Announce Certification of Liberty Cell Phone Application for Credit Card Processing

GURNEE, Ill. and ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 2001

Credit card processing is now as simple as tapping a few buttons on your cell phone.

The Liberty(TM) cell phone system, the first U.S. based WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) credit card processing application was released today by World Products, Inc. and Atomic Software, Inc., major providers of electronic payment solutions.

The Liberty cell phone system allows merchants to accept credit card payments from customers at any time and almost any place using only their internet capable, WAP cell phones. It works when the merchant logs into the World Products PDA Money.net website via their WAP enabled phone. After logging in, "cards" as the screens are called on WAP devices, request a series of information pertaining to the transaction. The credit card data is then routed to the Atomic Software ecomPort Gateway service which is connected to all of the leading Credit Card and Check processors. The entire transaction is completed in seconds and is completely secure. Additionally, the ecomPort service provides a Merchant Console to allow the merchant access to real time transaction reports from any web browser.

The system has been developed to be backwards compatible with older WAP standards thereby allowing most of the web enabled phones released in the past year to work with this system. Phones from 12 manufacturers, including Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung all have phones released in the US that will work on the system. A total of approximately 44 phone models are supported. The wireless system protocols that are used by these phones are iDEN, CDMA, TDMA, CDPD, and GSM.

According to Robert Wallace, president of World Products, there are two major benefits of the Liberty system. "First, a merchant can now get real time transaction approvals anywhere that they can make a cell phone call. This allows them to sell products and services without the fear of the credit card being declined after a customer has left. This has become a major problem for businesses that try to accept credit cards without instant verification. They accept the card, but later find out the card is declined, over limit or stolen, leaving them without payment for products or services provided. Secondly, the system also allows a merchant instant access via a standard computer and web browser to look up current and past transactions, settlements, and monthly statements."

"There are many merchants that will be able to take advantage of this system," stated Robert Brooks, Director of Wireless Products for Atomic Software. "We are extremely pleased to have the Liberty cell phone system certified with our ecomPort service. This extends real time credit card approvals to many merchants that currently cannot get them and therefore have to take a big risk on fraud."

World Products is a privately held company that provides products and value added services to the merchant marketplace. For more information on the Liberty cell phone system contact Robert Wallace at 847-855-1483 or on the internet visit http://www.pdamoney.net.
