Spectra Logic Showcases Award-winning Enterprise-class Libraries

at SNIA Technology Center Grand Opening

Spectra Logic Corp., the industry's leading manufacturer of AIT tape libraries, demonstrated its support for the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA's) Technology Center Grand Opening today in Colorado Springs, CO.

The 14,000 square-foot center, the largest independent storage-networking complex in the world, will support the SNIA by providing testing laboratories as well as educational and training facilities. The center will also facilitate the gathering of work groups to progress the study, development and recommendation of storage standards to the appropriate standards bodies.

Spectra Logic is showcasing its award-winning enterprise-class line of tape libraries, the Spectra 12000 and Spectra 64000, at the grand opening. Spectra Logic's enterprise-class tape libraries enable customers to manage a massive amount of data without wasting valuable space in the datacenter. The entry-level Spectra 12000 carries a storage capacity of 15.6 Terabytes and up to 8 drives in only 24" of rackmount space. The Spectra 64000 offers state-of-the-art enterprise data management with up to 80 Terabytes and 32 tape drives in a single rackmount enclosure - representing by far the industry's highest storage density. The Spectra 12000 and Spectra 64000 utilize Spectra Logic's Gator architecture, which allows users to take advantage of a variety of storage architectures, including Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, and traditional direct-attached methodologies. Spectra Logic's enterprise-class tape libraries provide customers with unparalleled performance, connectivity, reliability, and a return on investment along with many key features, including Shared Library Services(TM). Allowing users to allocate a tape library's resources in up to 16 partitions across the enterprise, Spectra Logic's Shared Library Services (SLS) provides support for heterogeneous platforms, software applications, tape drives, media and interface technologies all within the same library.

"The SNIA Technology Center will be an invaluable resource for new storage products," said Britt Terry, Director of Marketing at Spectra Logic. "No longer will companies need to waste vast amounts of time and resources getting access to information or equipment to ensure operability."

"With today's Grand Opening of the SNIA Technology Center, the SNIA membership has succeeded in building an environment that will, without a doubt, help to accelerate our mission - the promotion and evolution of storage networking," said Larry Krantz, chairman of the SNIA. "The SNIA education, training and standards developments are ultimately the future of storage networking. We believe that the SNIA Technology Center is a giant step toward supplying vendors, providers and, more importantly, customers, with a centralized storage networking resource for years to come."
