RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2001
Emrys Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise mobile computing solutions, today announced that it is extending the reach of the enterprise to mobile professionals with the availability of the company's patent-pending Visions View Manager(TM) technology for the Microsoft PocketPC and Windows CE mobile and wireless computing operating system.
By offering support for PocketPC and Windows CE, Emrys has added significant functionality to its Visions Mobile Application Gateway (MAG) Server, which powers wireless, real-time access and interaction with an organization's existing business applications.
Availability of the Visions View Manager(TM) for the PocketPC and CE provides support for a broad range of mobile computing devices, including the Hewlett-Packard Jornada, Compaq iPaq, Symbol SPT 2700, and tablets from a variety of manufacturers.
Emrys Visions(TM) enterprise software is an open Mobile Application Gateway (MAG) and a comprehensive suite of tools that allows an enterprise to extend back office applications, including ERP, CRM, and legacy applications, to wireless, handheld devices using popular operating systems such as PocketPC, Windows CE, and Palm.
Visions supports full high-performance business application functionality to mobile users, availability to disconnected users through advanced peer-to-peer "Always-On" architecture, and emerging standards including HTML, WML, and XML, all from a single environment.
"We are extending the reach of the enterprise," said Bruce Switzer, CEO of Emrys. "Our technology allows the user to have a secure, real-time, high performance interaction with enterprise business applications,"
"Compared to our support for WAP-enabled phones, the Microsoft PocketPC and Windows CE devices give the user enough geography to actually conduct business while with customers. Mobile professionals can, for example, drill down into product databases, perform customer inquiries, place product and service orders, check outstanding service issues -- all real-time, connected to the actual enterprise applications," Switzer added. "Our approach provides improved mobile computing productivity while leveraging the existing investment companies have made in enterprise applications."
The Emrys product suite includes (1) Emrys Visions(TM), an enterprise-class Mobile Application Gateway (MAG) Server, (2) evDeveloper(TM), an integrated development environment that supports multiple target mobile computing environments, and (3) a peer-to-peer Always-On Framework(TM) for support of high-latency connected and disconnected users. Emrys products are built upon patent-pending technology that provides rapid deployment and very high performance, even over narrow bandwidth.
Emrys Visions' adoption as an emerging mobile computing standard is reflected by business alliances, including a relationship with Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) of Dallas, TX and the addition of several key customers within the insurance, healthcare, and services industries.
